Icecrown Citadel, 10-player, 26 July 2010

Another lull in raid reports has begun to occur and thus I decided to write my first. Lately we've started progressing a little more, and we have been trying new things. Last Friday, we did a 25man ICC, which is beginning to become a common occurrence.

I was talking with my best mate during that day and invited him to our raid that night - Maikyl from Hysteria. We were short a few guildies, and thus Hysteria's alts decided to band together and help us out. One of those alts was a Kingslayer, and we tried Heroic not-so-lootships for the first time (for most of us). We did it after 2 or 3 tries, and finished the night on a good note after downing Saurfang.

Last Wednesday's raid got us through the first four bosses in two attempts, if I remember correctly. The one wipe we had was because of darned Darnavan. We tried the drood-root-runaway tactic, but it seemed that the healers kept pulling agro. At some point, some how, Darnavan attacked one of our Warlocks who then panicked and downed Darnavan within the second. We tried a new tactic - I wore my Holy (healing) gear and replaced the weaker parts of my set with my tanking set, tank-healing Darnavan myself off in the corner somewhere. Worked well.

The last hour to hour and a half of that night was dedicated to Dreamwalker. The witch. Actually, it's those damned suppressors that seemed to get us down.

Coming to tonight, we tried three times and got it on our fourth. All the tries last week were lasting into at least the six minute mark, where the adds start eating faces, but not getting the dragon past ~85%. Today I read up on some interesting healing strats for the boss, and a few of the other guildies had some great ideas as well. Tonight the first three tries were all above 92% - we got her down (up?) in about five minutes twenty, with us all alive. Guild first!

After much celebrating, we went over to the plagueworks for the few badges we could get (we were pretty spent after Dreamwalker). Got to Festergut without too many problems, and Sapph decided to show us a new tactic she had learnt from a fellow guild. Apparently, the mage of the group is supposed to pull the boss first, and then die. This, of course, gets us to wipe and run back in. I'm not 100% sure how the pre-boss-kill wipe helps, but Sapph's never lied before, and I think it is because of this that we got the boss down 'first' try.

I won't mention Rotface. We all made mistakes, but that's okay because we gave up after exerting as much effort as possible through concentration in the Dreamwalker fight.

Dreamwalker's going down first try, next time.

Thanks everyone!

  • Number of guild firsts: 1
  • Number of mages that continue to insist on tanking: 1
  • Number of bosses remaining alive that shouldn't be tonight: 1

On a side and sad note, Dharmendar has left the guild, and WoW, to endeavour on life's more time consuming journeys. Like getting a girlfriend. Going to work. Eating, even. Oh, that's just me.

Hope you had fun everyone!
